[New!] Neat little utility to refresh your IP rather than rebooting.  Download and save to your desktop.
Windows XP = double left click and hit any key.
Windows Vista = right click and run as administrator and hit any key.

It will refresh your address for DSL and Fiber technology.  Do not use with Cable modem unless you reboot the modem first.

Spybot Search & Destroy   This by far is the best part of the program.  It stops your machine before you have a problem. SpyBot also removes a large number of today's spyware problems.  Don't be confused by others using his name only download from his site.

I have been using Haute Secure on my browser and I can tell you that if you get a drive-by download on your machine it's your fault.  This program warns you about everything.  I find it a good business solution for those who don't want to lock employee's from using the internet at all.
Haute Secure, an anti-malware start-up founded by four former Microsoft employees,
is using a new browser toolbar to block drive-by exploits from compromising Windows

AVG by Grisoft  One of the best "FREE" antivirus programs out there, in many ways better than the retail versions of
McAfee and Norton who seem to want to add firewall and internet security (only to make a machine un-useable).

Easy Clean 2.0 is a great little program to clean up the hard drive.  Let it eat little bits at a time or it will lock your machine up.  Direct Link to the Author:  http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm  Screen shots and more...

WinSock Fix for XP = WinsockXPFix.exe  For XP only !   (hint get this now and save to the C: drive, you can't get it when you need it.)

WinSock Fix = WinsockFix.exe  for everything but XP & Vista (There is not one out for Vista yet)

you can also use the netsh winsock reset command to repair Winsock

SmitFraud / SpyAxe.net removal tool (This is to remove those Fake Spyware programs that want money to remove what is not there, Thus the FRAUD part.  It is best to get the most recent file and run in safe mode. Direct Link:  http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

Rootkit Revealer = rootkitrevealer.zip   getting into the next generation Spyware removal. ...

Microsoft Blue Screen Bug Codes  HERE

Below are some older tools, currently if I have to get to them, the drive needs formatting.
But if you have plenty of time to waste have at it.

Older Cool Web Search Shredder = CWShredder.exe  Great program, not much found with it these days.

Older Highjack This = HijackThis.exe  no need to save backup each time  (copy into it's own sub directory)

Zipped up Kazza Be Gone = kazaabegone.zip  download and unzip ... then run the app.  all files will be in the proper place

About Buster 4.0 = AboutBuster.zip  save and unzip, run 2 times ... works pretty good. for that one problem.

Below here are some applications I find useful to get that old Windows 98 / NT / 2000 machine running properly.

Adobe version 7.0 = AdbeRdr70_enu_full.exe  For Windows 2000 & XP ... must run once, first before use.

WinZip = winzip81.exe  Demo version works great.  You DO NOT NEED this for XP!

Old Microsoft Java = msjavx86.exe    There are security issues with this file and MS cannot fix them due to a Sun Micro judgment.

Gibson Research Corporation  (GRC) Shields Up !!! Test your firewall

6 Things needed when moving to a new PC or backing up your DATA

Internet Explorer fix utility IEFIX from MVPS.com

This site has an extensive list Linux Commands:
