6+ Things that need to move for a new PC
With “View” options set to show hidden files and unhide extensions

 

 

  1. My Documents (music, pictures, misc.)

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents

 

  1. Desktop  (to see what needs to be installed and what is working)

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Desktop

 

  1. Favorites (copy the directory to the new PC)

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Favorites

 

  1. Address Book

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

 

  1. E-Mail (grab the entire outlook express directory)

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\random number{5D225212-787E-4B87-A329-472EED7E4AB9}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

 

  1. Outlook Express Account(s)
    Tools < Accounts < Mail Tab < export (save them to a neutral area)

 

  1. Misc.  programs that put things in different places:

Works keeps them in program files

Quicken versions keep them in C:\Program Files\Intuit\Quick*

Some save items in the root of C:\
